Oh god, be careful who friends you on Facebook
about 40 yrs ago, I lived in chicago, was an old hippy etc.

anyway, this skinny weird guy used to follow me around when I worked at an Underground Newspaper.

I would tell him to go away, but he sneered and bothered me.

40 yrs later Im on FB, and he wants to be friends.

I figured, well, its been 40 yrs, he has probably matured and grown up .

The minute I let him on, he started emailing me.

Telling me how "I must have once loved him" etc etc etc

He is now officially blocked and deleted.

hes fat and bald now, and I feel sorry for him like I did 40 yrs ago

But, well, ICK. no thanks.

Be wary.

Some people just dont change.

1. Man, gotta be careful with that crap.
You just demonstrated the very reason I haven't jumped onto any social networking sites. And probably won't. Too many unforseen drawbacks, I'm guessing.

10. +1
I'm bringin' sexy back with my thinning pate and flabby middle. It's all attitude anyways. I'm witty, charming, confident, fun and sweet...that overcomes looks with most women anyways.

Creepy is never a turn-on though. I've known creepy. I used to be creepy. Creepy is bad.

3. that is a really uncomfortable situation

however, the good thing about FB and that sort of thing is that you CAN block him and cut off contact with him.

As long as you don't post any contact info, such things can be dealt with easily enough.

Haven't had anything like that happen...just had some women I've never met try to "friend" me - usually accompanied by pics highlighting their breasts. Uh, no thanks...did you NOT see the "married" in my status? :eyes: - changed my settings, and fixed that.

5. Unfortunately, "married" is a turn-ON for some people.
Personal ethics isn't as common as we'd like to believe...

7. yeah - I get that.
wish there was a way to add "and NOT interested" - or something to that effect...

that might just make them think I'm a challenge, though!

as I said, the issue was resolved for me by changing settings.

8. Facebook should have a setting that says
NOT INTERESTED IN A RELATIONSHIP

PREFERS CATS

9. Sometimes I don't know what's worse, the people who read statuses or those who don't.
I haven't had many FB problems. My first, middle, and last name are common but not together so after I updated it with my full name and changed my settings I stopped getting weird random messages. Myspace is another story. My brother started a myspace page for his car. The make, model, and pictures of it are plastered all over the page. Once when he was using my computer he showed me some messages from people that thought it was an actual person. The headline on my myspace page says "If you're illiterate, horny, and 19 then I'm 15, happily married, and expecting my 5th child." I looked at my page for the first time in over a month last week and saw a message from a guy who was illiterate, horny, and 19 saying he felt sorry for me if that was true but if it wasn't then I'm a sexy douche and should add him.
