I really like Christmas lights. I'm being serious, here...
Mrs R always puts a string of them on the Norfolk Island Pine tree in our bedroom, and another string around the three windows at the head of our bed.

Life gets very peaceful for me when I lie in bed with my wonderful warm wife and absorb the soft glow of those colored lights.

oh wait i live here, too!1 KIDDING! yukyuk. anyway. all my neighbors here near the casino have the lights. we don't even bother with a tree.

I hope you and your family have a nice christmas and I hope we don't get so much snow this weekend along the coast. I consider myself somewhat on the coast though i have to drive 15 minutes or so to actually be ON the shoreline.

5. Hey, jb, it's damn good to hear from you after a long time! I think that you are
in the "coastal zone" as far as the weather is concerned, so get your shovel out. Or just say the hell with it and wait until it melts, which also works.

Redstone...you just melted my heart...
As of late...you've reminded me so much of my beloved father...and so you've also made me smile with memories.

Wishing you and your wife continued peace & warmth...

11. I like the colored lights too.
The plain white ones, not as much.

I once had a friend who hung all his Star Wars paraphernalia on his ceiling and used lights to accent them. It was really cool looking. :)

You have a pine tree in your bedroom? I take it that is an ornamental pine that doesn't grow very tall, right? Most pine trees where I live (Loblolly pines) grow 100 to 150 feet tall and grow quick. I don't mean to go off-topic or hijack. I just like pine trees. :)

12. It's a Norfolk Island Pine, about 4 feet tall, in a pot. We have a large bedroom, but
not big enough for a loblolly pine.

17. Norfie Pines aren't actially pines.
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 04:35 PM by Odin2005
They are a kind of Auricaria, Auricaria heterophylla, an ancient group of conifers often shown in documentaries on dinosaurs. They are one of my favorite conifers and I think they are really pretty plants.

Just to nitpick. :)

13. I like Christmas lights
some are excessive but I still think they're cool. My family never put up lights. We do decorate inside, though. Enjoy your lights! :hi:

21. I know the feeling. Or sitting by the fireplace, with a good book,
KUSC on the radio. The cat asleep at my feet. A cup of tea, a biscuit or two to wash down with the tea.
If it could be like that forever I wouldn't mind living forever. Reverie. But then reality rears it's ugly head.
