Anyone ever been able to retrieve old memories, through hynosis or some other way?

If so, how did you do it?

1. Not since I gave up pot over 20 years ago.

2. Are you thinking
self-hypnosis? Or are you thinking of going to an expert? I haven't done it myself but I do have some suspicion about some of the ideas that come out of those recovered memories. I think they can be tainted with suggestion. I think often we have some pretty poor recall and if you have a less than ethical therapist they could guide you to uncover repressed memories that were actually planted there with the therapist's own bias or personal projections.

Could that be any more clear than mud? Am I making sense or even talking about what you mean?

3. Yes, that's what I mean.

"self-hypnosis?" Maybe, I'd have to read up on that.

" Or are you thinking of going to an expert?" No, because it would cost money. I agree memories can be tainted with suggestion.

4. Sorry I had to run off
Didn't realize you had responded. You might try some type of guided hypnosis on a tape so you can just close your eyes and follow along. Bet if you looked in the self-help section of a book store you might find something with a recording. Who knows maybe some stuff is best left in the unconscious.
