My friend Becca is on the verge of giving birth. Since her husband is in the military in Iraq, I've offered to help Becca out with taking care of the little one.

Truth be told, I didn't make the offer completely out of altruism. One of the biggest pleasures in my life is playing with infants and toddlers! If only I could always feel as serene as I do when I rock a baby to sleep....

Quite a suprise, after we had resigned ourselves to not being able to have our own.

He will be raised with good Democratic values and be nurtured in an intelligent, loving home.

21. He has been the best baby

ever since he was born. He came out, fussed a little, peed on the nurses, and then was passed around to 10 of my family members. He never made a sound.

He has had one or two major, turn purple and scream, meltdowns, and they have both been gas related. Once we got him to burp, he was back to his old self.

I am just tickled to death with my son. I never knew I could love someone this much.

He's a little guy! My first born was 8lb.13oz length 23 1/2" second son was 8lb 7oz and 21" length. I had big boys. I am 4'11" Funny thing is, I was an 8 lb 3 0z length 21" baby.

He is utterly beautiful. I love babies. When they are loved and cared for, they grow to become wonderful sources of hope and inspriation for all of humanity. It's not always easy to it do right, but a noble task for those of us who choose to undertake it. :)

There's nothing like a child to put it all in perspective. I took yesterday off from the "need-to's and have-to's of life" to see my greatgrandaughter who is 19 months old. When I had to leave, she stretched her little arm out...I moved closer, and she patted me on the back and kissed me on the cheek. One of the things that bothers me is that I won't live long enough for her to remember me - and know that I loved her...and yesterday, I had the feeling that maybe she was assuring me she would. I can't tell you how much the feeling meant. This is what you have to look forward to - this wonderful world of love and promise. Give Ethan an extra tickle for me, will you?
