Great version...and I think Pete Townshend helped the song out after a few minutes of learning it.

2. You're right, it's impossible to miss that grinding...

...and it's still a great performance.

That's one of the ironies of Jerry...I've seen performances where he looked a lot better, no cause for alarm, but his voice was shot, or something else was missing.

I don't know how much of Rock Scully's book is the truth...



...but if it's based in truth, it goes a long way toward explaining why some nights were "on" and some nights were "off."

I still consider this to be one of the great American tragedies, like Hendrix or Morrison or Joplin...who knows what amazing music dies with him?
