The Real Purpose of Social Consumption of Alcohol?
Consider this abridged excerpt from the dialog of the movie "The Gods Must Be Crazy":

...I know you think I'm an idiot...
...but I'm not really like that.
Normally, I'm quite normal.
But whenever I'm in the presence of a lady...
...my fingers turn into thumbs, my brain switches off.
When you get to know me better, you'll see that I'm not always stumbling.
It's really just an interesting psychological phenomenon.


In a situation involving social drinking, he wouldn't have to provide that explanation. Instead, others would simply say, "He had too much to drink", and find a polite way to help him extricate himself from the situation and go home.
