6. Me too
Do you have an Irish name? I think I was singled out because my name is Irish and I look Irish. It happened to me in the mid-1990s.

7. Whoa! Same here.
I was married to a man who had a very Irish last name, and I guess looked a little TOO Irish for their taste. And, being that I was with him and shared the same last name, I was - in their eyes - a potential accomplice.

After they did the pat down/wand, they brought us into a room - complete with German Shepherds and cops - and asked us a half-hour's worth of questions. This was in 1990, when the IRA was in deep with the terrorism in Belfast. And I have to admit, I was scared that day.

12. Your experience sounds awful!
I was left almost in tears but my experience was nowhere near as bad as yours. After that, I swore I'd never fly BA or go through Heathrow again.

8. No, but I was frisked at the Taipei airport in 1985
At that time, all departing passengers had to be frisked. There was a men's line and a women's line, with uniformed employees of the appropriate gender.

14. Almost but not quite
I was visiting a client in prison. I had my shoes search, a mirror stuck up my skirt, and my bra searched. I didn't like it, but I also realized it came with the territory. It was more creepy being a female walking through the prison yard.

Worked briefly as a guard at the Orleans Parish Prison. Not an experience I'd care to repeat, thank you very much.
