CSI: New York coming soon.
I hope they do include Alaska. HEADS UP, VANCOUVER! ANOTHER FAUX ALASKA SHOW TO BE SHOT IN YOUR TOWN! PROBABLY! :)

Gary Sinise is about to join New York's finest in their fight against crime.

"Gary Sinise (news) brings to CSI: New York all of the class and cachet into the growth of an amazing franchise. Gary Sinise and New York is solid gold," says Anthony Zuiker, creator of the original CSI and one of the franchise's executive producers. While no female lead has been announced, 24 costar Vanessa Ferlito has also been added to the cast. For his efforts, the actor will take home approximately $120,000 to $150,000 per episode. To earn that paycheck, he'll play Detective Rick Calucci, a crime-scene investigator who leads a team of forensic experts. The character will be a widower who lost his wife on 9/11, which purportedly gives him added sensitivity.

"He has a soulfulness about him and really represents the pulse of New York," Zuiker tells Variety. This series is "going to be far more character-driven. We'll attempt to open up the characters more right from the start." Sinise's character is set to be introduced in an episode of CSI: Miami during May sweeps, when Miami lead Horatio Caine (played by David Caruso) travels to the Big Apple to pursue a murder investigation--a homecoming of sorts for Caruso, who got his big break on ABC's NYPD Blue.

Other notes of interest on the spinoff: Zuicker created and is set to serve as showrunner for the New York version. Zuicker also announced he plans to take the show on the road during the season as part of the storyline--the destination could be anywhere from Iraq (news - web sites) to Alaska, said the TV hitmaker. Music is also going to be key for this series with songs from the '60s and '70s setting the mood--a technique used to some success on another Jerry Bruckheimer-produced crime show, Cold Case. And per a tradition begun with the first CSI, the show's theme comes from the Who's rock library.

1. Lord I hate that show.
It kind of reminds me of the movie Gladiator. The characters are appalled at how horribly people get maimed and killed, yet the whole reason for watching it for the gore factor.

And then the dialouge is writtn by a computer.

And the science is just plain bad.

4. The whole reason for watching is the gore factor?
maybe for you. Some of us have other reasons. Some of us actually wish the gore factor was toned down a bit, as it was in the first season.

The dialogue isn't bad at all. Actually quite good, compared to most writing on television.

And the science? You actually expect good science on a drama on television? I'm just happy they give science lip service, and let the scientific method run things, instead of "intuition".

it is just unbelievable - no credibility whatsoever. And you are correct about the dialog - it's absolutely eye-rolling.

First we have all these Law and Order shows, now all these CSI shows. I'm reminded of an outdated concept called originality. This is just taking a winning formula for a show and beating the hell out of it. Come up with something different. The first CSI was different. The first Law and Order was different, along with the Sopranos, and OZ. I thought creative people were supposed to be creative, not creating cookie-cutter shows.

Give me a show that shows Forensic Accountants going after White-Collar crooks. If they can make CSI lab work look exciting, going after crooked bankers should be a snap.

5. Gary Senise is a likable actor but I really don't get the CSI appeal
It just seems like such an empty, formulaic, unoriginal show. And now there are 3 of them. I hate when people bash things I like so sorry if I offended anyone. Feel free to bitch at me.

6. That'll be interesting...
when they show NYC crime scene types telling the detectives how to conduct their investigations. The fingerprint guy as the hero, eh?

I wonder if they'll show the precinct captains, deputy chiefs, and the rest of of the bigshots trampling the crime scene and telling the investigators to get out of the way of the cameras in the high profile cases. Lots of foot and finrprints to collect when they leave.

The original is still kind of interesting, the Miami one sucks, and the New York one will be horrible if the trend continues.

(Haven't bothered to watch the Navy one yet.)

10. CSI sux
It would have a niche market I'm sure but it shocks me that most of the country loves and watches this show. I just don't get it. Working in a crime lab isn't that interesting I'm sure.
