Where do you put your horseradish?
It's great in a sauce for shrimp cocktail.

Nothing better than horseradish on cold roast beef.

I've been using it on sandwiches in place of mustard.
Nice tang.

So now the bottle is just sitting in the fridge.

Any ideas for sauces, recipes?

9. in mashed potatoes
A spoonful of horseradish in a bowl of mashed potatoes is surprisingly delicious. I learned that from Continental Airlines about twenty years ago. Mash your potatoes with sour cream and butter, and add the horseradish.

25.  Wasabi is horseradish on steroids
Edited on Thu Oct-29-09 06:43 PM by Brother Buzz
I once witnessed an eighty-year-old lady dip a rice cracker into a bowl of wasabi and toss it into her mouth thinking it was guacamole. Five of us attempted to stop her but she was too fast. Ruined her evening like you wouldn't believe.

Wasabi can be dangerous, but in moderation (and mixed with soy sauce) it is delightful.

Radio show stunts can backfire and cost the station big dough:

$16M Awarded In Water Contest Death

Local Station Found Negligent

October 29, 2009

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A jury has awarded more than $16 million in damages after finding that a local radio station was negligent in the case of a woman who died after drinking a large amount of water during a contest.

However, the station's parent company, Entercom Communications Corp. of Boston, was found not to be negligent in Jennifer Strange's death.

Strange was not negligent in her own death, the jury also determined.

The jury, which delivered the split verdict after nine days of deliberation, awarded a total of $16,577,118.

The family's attorney said Entercom will not appeal and that it will pay the full amount.

21. Don't let it sit in the fridge too long - it's much better fresh.
Some local farmers grow the root and grind and bottle it every week or so. It will clear your ears.

37. Karl Fischl's summer horseradish dip
I first tasted this in Phoenix in the late seventies. It's a classic and, paradoxically, it's best in summer. It's very simple and is good with fresh vegetables as well as chips.

2 parts cottage cheese
1 part sour cream
horseradish to taste (the fresher, the better!)
dill weed
