"Got to ~insert something~ or my wife will kill me "
Edited on Thu Oct-29-09 11:15 AM by UndertheOcean
That is an expression I hear regularly from married male friends .... makes me think marriage is a trap rather than a good thing..

I mean , being afraid of , and having this attitude towards someone you are supposed to share your life with is not healthy.

3. I'm sure it's just an expression
My guess isn't that they actually fear their wives, but instead wish to avoid nagging.

OR, it's quite possible that they really do want to make their wives happy by indulging a request.

8. I agree
this can be an excuse to get out of something unwanted - "sorry guys, I have to leave now or my wife will kill me"

10. It's kinda like the expression "Fear of God."
I'm supposed to love God. How does talking about fear make someone want to believe? How does fear of your wife's anger make the marriage any better?

11. I read that as "got to insert something"....
um.... IBTL?

But in a more serious answer, I agree with you. That said, I know some people (not all of them women of course) who do like to rule the roost and keep their S.O. busy all day, sometimes to the point of ridiculousness. One I am thinking of just needed a hobby I think; she would get mad at anyone who took the time to relax or read or do something, so she'd find things for you to do, even if you were a guest!

13. It's only used by irresponsible men who don't want to grow up
as far as I've seen. Put the onus of his behavior on the woman in his life so no one will think he actually likes a clean house or cares about clean clothes etc.
