Sometimes you and/or the person you want to wish a Happy Birthday to aren't in a position to talk. Why wait hours until we're able to talk or see each other when I can let them know I was thinking of them earlier?

8. That all depends on who it's from.
If it's from a friend on the other side of the country, no, it's not rude. If it's from a spouse, then I'd lean towards yes, unless there were extenuating circumstances.

9. Why would you think that's rude?
Granted, it's sort of impersonal, but if you won't have an opportunity to actually speak to the person, and forgot to send a card or something, it's better than just ignoring their birthday.
