Damn Sara Lee to hell....I broke down and bought one of the frozen pound cakes
Edited on Wed Oct-28-09 05:28 PM by debbierlus
....which I know I should not do under any circumstances. It is a major weakness food for me.

It is 3/4th gone over three days (although I did buy the smaller size).

And, the rest is just up there...sitting in the refrigerator sending out the special telepathic food waves that brainwash its victims....eat me..........eat me........eat me.......

Worse then the tell tale heart I tell you!

Damn Sarah Lee and her pound cake...

I think I am going to go eat the rest now....just to silence the voices :).

2. I made a pound cake from scratch.
And last night I made chocolate frosting to ice it with.

The cake has 6 eggs and a cup of sour cream.

4. Pound cakes recipes are just plain evil to begin with....

Yours crosses the line....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....what else can I put in here to add more calories...

The pound of butter and eggs just doesn't seem to be caloric enough. Wait, I know, SOUR CREAM!

:)

I bet it rocks!

10. Nobody makes cooked frosting anymore....but I did.
Two squares of semisweet chocolate, 1-1/2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of milk, cook it till the soft ball stage at 238, then stir in some cream and a couple tbsps. of butter and a splootch of vanilla. Take it off the heat and beat it. I put walnuts in it too!!

Yeah, it's truly obscene and X rated. :D

I don't like to separate eggs, so I found a recipe where ya just toss 'em in. Even used Mom's old electric Mixmaster, which totally rocks for making serious cakes.

33. Oh, cooked frosting is THE best. I have a Kitchen Aid that will be coming out very soon

It just begs to make this stuff.

My daughter likes to bake, so it is a nice holiday thing to do together.

14. The recipe I use calls for cream cheese
That's along with margarine, butter and 6 eggs. Best pound cake ever!

I suppose you could use all butter. I'll have to try that one of these days...

29. I use cream cheese too.
Nothing quite like homemade coconut pound cake (made with cream cheese and butter) with a chocolate cream cheese frosting.

16. That's why I avoid buying or making things like that
Usually, I only allow them in the house for special occasions. I hear those same voices. They even call from the freezer. I have the same problem when it comes to Nutella, which would make a fabulous pound cake frosting.

I just gained 5 lbs. thinking about Nutella-frosted pound cake...

Talk about gaining weight. The Bite of Seattle was going on two blocks away from my hotel.

Oh my god...best french custard ice cream ever.

Now, I have gained five pounds thinking about a Nutella Crepe & French Custard Ice Cream.

(I haven't bought one in years, btw. The other day, I was in the supermarket and I just broke down and said screw it)

22. Pregnancy helped me overcome the SL Pound cake problem
I craved the pound cake slightly frozen with a smear of peanut butter, sliced bananas and a half a cup or so of fresh OJ poured on top. I know....but it was what I needed and the kid came out just perfect though it did do some permanent damage to the thighs.

30. You managed to keep your food craving around a lot longer than I ever keep mine.
Two things I can never, EVER buy: Australian red licorice from Trader Joes and the gummi bears from my local produce market.

The red licorice comes in a tub. It has the serving size on it, and it is not the whole tub, I guarantee you that. Yet somehow I can eat a whole tub in a day or two at best. Then I feel sick. Then I want more. It's so delicious and soft and fruity. MMMMmmmmmmmmmm.

The gummi bears from my local produce market also come in a tub, but with no nutrition info. I'm still pretty sure that one serving is NOT the whole tub. But these gummi bears are so fresh and soft. AND they come in TWELVE different flavors, each one more delicious than the last.

It's bad folks. I'm like a crack addict. I just can't start with this stuff or I never stop.

31. Well, the cake is now gone, and I didn't just eat it plain!

I took and cut it into chunks. I didn't have any plain ice cream but I did have hood ice cream sandwiches.

I went completly over the top and frost each piece with some of the softened ice cream over the cake and then smushed a little of the chocolate from the sandwiches in for good measure.

Ultra rich. I think that took care of my Pound Cake craving for awhile.

Man, it was worth it!
