Yes, I did. No, I wasn't paying attention to the speedometer. I did not think we were going that fast.

Cop was very nice about it. He said, "Usually when people see a cop they slow down. You sped up. I thought maybe you were drunk or something."

He knocked it down to 80 (speed I was going when he first clocked me) which saved me $200 in fines and some points.

Next time I'm going with cruise control.

2. Cruise control is the way to go
I'm surprised most people don't use cruise control. I drive for a living so I see a lot of people who speed up and slow down constantly varying their speed. It's much more relaxing when you use cruise control and on a long trip it saves you a lot of energy and possibly a speeding ticket.

I didn't have cruise control in my last personal vehicle and I got pulled over twice in it not realizing how fast I was going. I just bought a new car and I made sure I got cruise control this time.

3. My problem with cruise control is it makes me zone out.
It's harder for me to concentrate on the road on a long drive if I'm only steering in a straight line down the highway and not varying the speed at all. It's less comfortable to have my foot on the accelerator but the lack of comfort helps me stay alert.

4. I guess if the choice is a possible speeding ticket or falling asleep
I'd take a possible ticket, too.

I drive nearly 500 miles a day, though, and I can do it either way.

5. You should have said that you're dyslexic
and that you were actually going 68.

6. LOL
I wonder how much more of a fine I would have had to pay for being a smart ass.
