November is National Novel Writing Month! Anyone gonna write one?
My daughter has signed up to try to write a 50,000-word novel in 30-days.

She wants me to try it as well. Has anyone ever tried this? How did it go?

2. I tried last year, got about a week in, and ran out of gas.
This year I'm doing a lot of pre-work, you know, plotting and character sketches, so I won't get hung up. I want to write a mystery novel so for me those things are important. If you sign up, add me as a writing buddy over there - I'm crispini there too.

3. About how many pages per day is it to stay on track for 50,000 words?
Isn't it something like 11 to 15 pages a day?

I don't know if I have it in me.

4. No, it's 1667 words per day.

Which is about 2 to 3 pages depending on how you space it. Not that bad really!

5. I did it last year and then had my own personal NaNoWriMo in August. I'm currently preparing a plot
outline and list of milestones to hit for November -- I think that's so helpful, instead of just jumping in and hoping for the best.

6. I'm thinking about it. The idea scares me and might be just what I need.
I just finished one in September and am rewriting so can't decide if I should do that instead or it's just an excuse. If a new idea inspires me, it could be great fun.

8. Considering that they don't have to be any good...
...And that I would not be giving up any IP rights to whatever pile of crap spills out of me by the end of November, I might just do it. It sounds like a good way to exercise writing skills and do some experimenting.
