2. Picture...

And, unfortunately, most of these auto cat boxes leave much to be desired. Unless technology has changed dramatically in the last few years. *disclosure - statement by someone that's spent many hundreds of hopeful dollars, for naught. me.

3. I know someone who built
a bathroom for their cats.
The litter box had a built in trap door and chute so they could dump it into a trash barrel in the basement.
It has a motion detector activated vent fan.
The door has a pet door built in.

Of course, the cats refused to use it.

5. Hi. We have a Cat Genie...
It works fairly well, as in according to design. We did have some issues with the "litter" pellets clogging the mechanism that macerates and disposes of the waste. BUT, we bought ours when they first came out over three years ago. CatGenie has dealt with this issue by altering the design and size of some of the parts involved for newer models. From what we can tell, the new parts have made a huge difference in performance!

Our CatGenie is set up in our laundry room and utilizes the drain for our washer machine. It is a somewhat large device so I would recommend that you have an easily accessible area at least 3 ft. by 3 ft. in length and width to place the CatGenie. And of course it needs to be immediately adjacent to a drain source for the waste water.

The company that makes CatGenie is very pleasant to deal with - they have very good customer service and deliver replacement supplies or parts quite promptly. The regular cleaner formula does have a definite perfume like scent so if you're sensitive to scented products, definitely choose the Unscented Cleaner solution. Though I liked the scented version. It drifted throughout the house during drying cycles.

However, our cats have been very resistant to use it. To be fair, two were older cats (16 & 17 yrs old) so we expected that a change in litter routine would be difficult at best. Our younger cats though followed their example and don't tend to use it either (We plan to try to transition them soon as our older cats have passed on over the last year). You may find you need to be rather diligent in working with your cat(s) to transition from sand like litter to the strange texture of the plastic pellets in the CatGenie.

Hope this info helps you and best of luck!

10. No it doesn't...
It's designed to not let the pellets be washed out with the waste. But some did occasionally get knocked into the area where the mechanism breaks down the solid waste and get stuck in the impeller (I think that's what it's called) and clogs up the area. You'd have to remove the pellets to get rid of the clog. But the newer impeller and scooping arms are larger and now keeps that problem from happening. Only liquified waste is washed out into the drain...

8. Hey, thanks for reminding me!
I need to go scoop the litter box.

Cats are little more than crap factories. Their main purpose in life is to convert expensive little cans of cat food into fecal matter. Why on Earth do we keep the ungrateful little creatures?

Oh, wait...the cat just jumped up in my lap and I have been trained to stroke its head and tickle under its chin. I will be done with my duties shortly and will resume this message.

Done.
