I don't watch too much football...

I have no idea if my friend did today...

We are used to seeing them lose, alas...

7. Don't feel bad. Detroit did even worse.
Last Packer game was against the Detroit Lions, and the Lions lost 26-0.

9. You know, I was going to adopt the Browns.
I have a bad history with NFL teams. My first team, the St. Louis Cardinals moved to Arizona. I had the Jim Hart replica jersey and the Terry Metcalf poster on the wall. That was mostly as a result of my dad being a fan (and it's the primary reason I am a Cardinals baseball fan to this day). Then, when I was about 10, I adopted the Houston Oilers. They had one of my favorite players (Billy "White Shoes" Johnson) and seeing Earl Campbell in his rookie year did it for me. Then, we moved to Texas, and all was well (with the exception of spectacular failures in the playoffs). Then, they moved away and became the Titans. I followed them for a while until all the old Oilers retired.

So, I was on the hunt for a new team. I felt that Cleveland got a raw deal with their team moving after so many years. I literally felt their pain (twice). So, when the Browns came back into existence, I decided I would be a Browns fan. Now THERE was a good decision. It soon became apparent that no one working for the Browns has a clue. What an inept organization.

I still wish them well. But I wouldn't call myself a true fan. If they ever get good, I will be a bandwagon-jumper though. :P

12. Did you miss my saying I was an Oilers fan?
I will never, EVER, root for Pittsburgh. At best I may hope they don't lose.

15. I figured you could put the hoodoo on them by rooting for 'em.
Just bring them down in the standings, then root for whoever you want.

14. There's still time to turn it around!
If we wipe the slate the rest of the season we can finish 9-6, possibly good enough for a wildcard. Of course, that would require the offense scoring at least one touchdown a game. And the defense making a tackle every once in a while. Sheesh!

All we need are a qb, a running back, a couple of wide recievers, at least one tight end, an entire right side of the offensive line, a good linebacker or two, two cornerbacks, and an upgrade at safety. Some would also suggest a new coaching staff and owner. We're on the verge, I tell 'ya.

16. Well, you know....
....the team I root for is the franchise that was once the Cleveland Browns, except we had enough class to leave the name and history where it belonged, in Cleveland.

Does that count?
