good show).

the ship's captain is killed in the pilot, but his persona is somehow captured in the mainframe. there's also something dangerous lurking in the mainframe.

ETA - it takes place in the near future, the mission is an exploration of the solar system, not intergalactic.

anybody know which show this is?

It was supposed to be a series, but Fox elected not to pick it up.

12. I really liked Virtuality.
I liked it a whole lot better than Defying Gravity.

I couldn't force myself past episode 4 of DG. WAY too much Grey's Anatomy relationship BS.

6. I have a love/hate relationship with Defying Gravity...
As soon as the goofy "aw-shucks" music starts, I have to fast forward. I don't really care for the superfluous coverage of the sex lives of astronauts "five years earlier." Granted, there are some bits which are important and establishing -- especially now that I've seen the season finale (series finale?), but overall I'd rather focus more on the present.

And what is it with all the Jesus-talk in sci-fi these days? Spirituality and its consequences on determinism and free-will is one thing, but in some of these shows there is open praying going on. I blame the Battlestar Galactica remake, which was horrendously awful television.

I've been watching Defying Gravity and Stargate Universe, both of which have heavy Jesus themes.

Anyway, if you like Defying Gravity and have not seen the whole season, go and download the episodes you've not seen -- if you can wade through the romance bits, it's really good sci-fi.

8. I have the same problem with Defying Gravity
Edited on Sat Oct-24-09 05:58 PM by rcrush
I gave up by the 5th episode cause it didnt seem like they were going to do any space exploring. I guess thats what they get when they push something as "Greys Anatomy in Space"

Stargate Universe is way better but I dont think it has any overly religious feel to it. The open praying in the last episode was just because all those crew members thought they were hours away from death.

That last episode was way cool I think. I mean the ship flew into a sun to recharge itself. Thats pretty cool.

15. I hope you check back to see this reply...
Right, what I will say about Defying Gravity is that once you know what Beta is, and what it seemingly "wants", it gets REALLY good. When the secrets are revealed, you start to see how it's all connected. And, I won't spoil it, one crew member is unable to know what Beta is because Beta won't let them in on its secret -- a concept which in itself quite disturbing.

Download the shows from Mininova or some torrent site and watch the season to its completion! It's really, really decent.

(Episodes 7-13 have not been shown in the US yet -- so the releases from from Canada and were not recorded in HD, so the quality suffers a little bit. I hope they sell the season on Blu-Ray because Beta would be gorgeous in HD...)
