Best animated series ever.
IMO, of course.

When Superman cuts loose on Darkseid, it's BEYOND epic.

1. The first thought I had
When I saw this thread was "Justice League Unlimited". When the Flash Beats down Brainiac or when Darkseid kills that detective who stands up to him.

4. Darkseid killed cop Dan Turpin in Superman the Animated Series
Edited on Fri Oct-23-09 03:56 AM by slay
at least i think he did. But yeah - The whole Bruce Timm universe - Batman the Animated Series, Superman:TAS, Justice League, and JLU were some of the best adaptations of DC comics ever.

(sorry if i spoiled the death of Dan for anyone but if ya hadn't seen it by now ya likely weren't gonna. is nothing compared to what's happening to him in the Final Crisis comics i'm finally getting around to reading right now... i'll just say one word - Darkseid :x

2. "But you can take it can't you big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose
and show you how powerful I really am!" -- One of the most awesome lines from one of the most awesome eps of the best animated series ever no doubt! Justice League is not just in my top 10 favorite cartoons of all time, but my top ten favorite shows. Some eps may not have been perfect, but really you nailed it - it IS the best animated series. Ever.

9. Any episode with the Joker would be a howler.
Mark Hammill played him so over-the-top.

5. One of my favorites.
I'll admit the episode with Grundy and Hawkgirl fighting the alien god was probably my favorite. I damn-near cried at the end.

8. Animaniacs...and Batman the Animated Series..early 90s..
These two are quite different. Each in its own way stood far and above all others.

Writing, directing, characterization, and week to week quality of overall product.
Remember, action and adventure, (BATMAN)..is so much different than comedy/satire.

That would be like comparing the film "Aliens" to say "Singing in the Rain" don't work.

22. Ohhh Cowboy Bebop!
That show was in a class of it's own. Justice League still takes my fave for American toons, but otherwise Bebop no doubt!

Edited on Fri Oct-23-09 06:26 PM by Deja Q

(not really; save for "Futurama", "The Critic" (ABC, 1994) ruled... (yeah, FOX bought it in 1995... then ruined it... why ABC canceled it originally, I have no idea... "Roseanne" was more ribald at the time...!)

20. I preferred Darkseid's first death on Brainiac's asteroid
Batman pulls Superman into the portal.

Darkseid wipes the blood from his mouth, rasps "Loser." And...

BOOM

23. I always cheered for these guys...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7cnPBxAI8M&feature=related

Obviously because their 'foes' were so friggin' cheezy...

Mind you, the Indian guy and the red-headed woman growing big -- glad I wasn't 13 when I watched that garbage...

(of course 'Futurama' is the best-ever animated series! )
