I colored my hair 'warm soft black' and it came out dark purple cherry

I now have hair that is more Goth then my 14 year old daughters (who has adopted the 'Goth' look on & off for a couple years).

I like it, just a little different then what I expected.

I wanted a change :)

1. was it "natural instincts?"
can you tell it happened to me? AND i noticed it happened to an older friend as well

fortunately i don't have to wear a disguise any more so i no longer have to dye my hair the darker colors, they seem difficult

goth is flattering to young skin, not so much on a lady of my advanced years, i'm afraid, but i'm sure it looks terrific on you :-)

Then she is...

like red mulch. Thick, unshiny red mulch.

It's a highlighted dark blonde now.

30. That actually looks really nice--
I think it's pretty complimentary to what you are wearing in the pic, too, but also, I think you show the attitude necessary to rock a cool color. It looks good.

9. it will go soft in a few days
I did some red the other day and at home it looked great, nice brunette, like God intended when I was 12....

at work, though, under the flourescent lights, it was like ORANGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE oh lord I was so embarassed. It really looked awful in those lights.

But after about 4 days it went normal and now I don't look like I choose "brick" as the colour on the box

The purple looks good on you though. It's a classy purple, not freaky and "bad dye job" looking.

16. Did you leave the color on too long?
Edited on Tue Oct-13-09 06:52 PM by Beaverhausen
that's what happens to me when I do that. I learned that leaving it on longer won't make it last longer.

edit- I just looked at the photo and love the color. I did mine the same color on purpose on saturday. It's darker now but will lighten up.

I use Naturtint and mix henna red with mahagony.

19. There is likely a 1 800 number on the package you can call to find the antidote
to your color mishap. I once colored my hair "blue/black" and it was very dark blue. I called the 1 800 clarol number and they told me to use a blond coloring kit and it fixed the whole mess. Didn't turn green or anything.
