So the Lesbian Kiss on Heroes : Genuine or Contrived?
Edited on Mon Oct-12-09 11:53 PM by EndersDame
I haven't been watching this season , but got a facebook update about the "behind the scenes to Claire's kiss with Gretchen" The video has a "sexy" r&B pop song and ridiculous jump zooms on the kiss . It looks like a fakey kiss designed to create controversy and more horny frat boy viewers. I am still holding it out hope that the sensationalism was done just for the ad and think it would be wonderful to have another genuine and honest lesbian couple like Willow and Tara on Buffy. Heroes fans, what is your take?

1. Contrived isn't a strong enough word.
And I wouldn't get your hopes up that this will be any kind of long term thing.

They are going to play this off as the old "experimenting in college" cliche.

2. Are they that desperate for ratings that they need to include some softcore?
That show began to sink into the shithole in the second season.

4. Contrived
Claire's friend said she has a crush on her, that's all. Claire was stunned over the kiss, probably because it looks like the friend is trying to hurt her in other ways (although she is not -- it is someone else). It wasn't sexy at all.

5. It's not contrived, because I'm sure that they also showed two hot dudes making out, right?
Uh... Right?

6. I don't think Claire is a lesbian but her friend is.
Claire has had boyfriends and was surprised by the kiss.

8. I dunno... it was certainly contrived, but it IS television.
What isn't?

That aside, there was nothing all that "Cinemax-y" about it. It was just a kiss and then Claire looking all confused.

9. That Show Had Great Promise After Season One
But they butchered their main characters.

10. I'll tell you what surprised us the most....
The kids singing the theme from Greatest American Hero (circa early '80's): "Believe It Or Not"..

That song is one of my grandson's (age 7 years old) favorite songs to sing.

11. The guy who played the role was killed last season
he was a journalist who was giving Ali Larter's new character a hard time & she froze him.

12. I think in the end (If Gretchen survives) they will end as just friends.
I got the feeling that the character of Claire was shocked but not repulsed or enamored by the kiss.
I mean she thought this girl was trying to kill her but then found out she was just in love with her.
That is enough to shock the hell out of anyone.
