Greeting to all the tired Phillies fans out there
Not loving a playoff game that doesn't finish until crazy o'clock in the morning.

But hey, we won. In spite of the thin air. And cold. And late hour.

1. Hey, I'm west coast (Go Dodgers) and even I went to bed.
Didn't find out who won 'til this morning.

2. The whole thing is just stupid. To have playoffs this late, in the cold at night so
fans can't see the end of the game.

If you can't see the last inning, why watch the first?

3. It was just 7 PM Colorado time
They shouldn't have to conform to viewing times that are acceptable to East coast standards.

4. Psst. They're playing an East Coast team. They should start at six so kids can watch. nt

5. But the Rockies are at home
Edited on Mon Oct-12-09 12:30 PM by JonLP24
They played in the AM against the Philles(while Rockies kids fans were at school) while they were on the road while in Philadelphia it was a comfortable time for the Phillies late in the afternoon. It's all part of the home field advantage kind of thing.

6. I think that sucks too. Still no reason to start games so late. nt

7. You gotta figure time slots
If not the Rockies what else is appropriate for 10 EST starting time? Boston? Minnesota? Denver is the best choice because of the earlier time it would be for the locals.

8. Ideally it would be better to have late EDT and early MDT times
to optimize the experience for the fans of the two teams who are playing.

A lot of Phils fans were annoyed with the afternoon games - not all of us have TVs in the office (or can take time out to watch).

And the only redeeming thing to the 2am finish last night is that at least for a few people, the next day was a holiday. Not for me, mind you, which is why I went to bed not knowing how things ended, but for some.

But it's not an ideal world, and I'm sure the schedules are set squeezing games in around Fall TV schedules, and before knowing who will be playing who. But it still sucks.

12. Go Phils!
For some reason, I had this strange feeling that Lidge would save the game last night - and he did! :bounce:

13. Can you believe I fell asleep and missed the last 2 innings!?!?
Damn! And it was on at a reasonable time.

But watching the game in a quiet house with a glass of wine, a bellyful of sushi, flannel nightgown on, and dachshund on the lap will do that to even the most avid fan.

14. You missed possibly the best 2 innings in baseball this season...
of course we haven't swept the Dodgers yet...
The Rockies game was completely up for grabs for the last 2 innings - nerve wracking.

15. I am NOT good with that much suspense, so maybe it's for the best
I tend to "watch" innings like that from between my fingers or from the safety of another room.

but, still, grrrr..

16. I had a hard time with it, myself - it was like a distilled version of the entire series, and
I thought for sure the Rox had won the game.
Phils got a hit on the 2nd out, scored 3 runs before the inning ended. Crowd started leaving immediately after the first hit. It was unbelievable...I'm not that much of a fan, but this was like the old "heart attack kids" Phillies team.

Have to watch the Dodgers games now - I would'nt want to miss this!
