4. You look very earnest.

Did you like Brownies? I was a Brownie for one year and a Girl Scout for one year, but I could never really get into it, just never felt "involved." Looking back, I think I was kind of a loner as a child. I had two deaths in my family early on, and we moved a lot. It seemed I never belonged anywhere.

My hippie years cured me of that feeling, though. :hippie:

19. Yes, my hair was very long.
Edited on Mon Oct-12-09 02:48 PM by Blue_In_AK
I never had it cut until I was 11 and it was well past my waist. We kept it braided almost all the time, but my dad liked to take pictures of me when it was down. He cried when I got my first haircut. :(

Even as an adult, I've tended towards long hair. Recently, I didn't cut my hair at all until George Bush was out of office, sort of latter-day hippie protest, I guess. I'm sure GWB couldn't have cared less what I did with my hair...

Your pictures are very sweet. I love the second one. :)

I never knew her to sew, but she might have when I was little.

I wish I could find shoes like the ones in that picture. I was born in 71.

36. My family was completely non-religious but always got a tree.
We still get a tree, and our kids love them, even though Jesus has no part in our holiday. (Xtians stole the idea, anyway.)

Trees are pretty, and fun to decorate, and a nice tradition no matter what you believe, so what the hell. Case in point:

like the other kids had. Christmas is, at its heart, just a celebration of winter. A Kurisumasu tree can be shared by all the religions. :)

My father swears he has that hat stored in a box somewhere. It use to belong to a family friend but he thought it looked cute on me so it became mine.
