2. as a disinterested non baseball fan
All I can say is that Yankee fans by and large are the most annoying in all of sports. Lakers fans are a close second followed by Cowboys fans. Every team has them but these teams are head and shoulders above the rest. I think it boils down to this mistaken idea that the championships in their respective sports belong to them. I guess this is why I gave up on stick and ball sports a long time ago.

5. Yes
New York Yankees fans are the most annoying by far, like Republicans if someone tells me they are a Yankees fan I am usually suspect of them.

8. That's a terrible thought process.
But it's not surprising considering the thought process of many here on DU lately. If we don't all follow in lock step with each other, they usually resort to name calling. :eyes:

I've been called a freeper quite a few times this past week.

22. Maybe my joke wasn't that good
or I should have used the :sarcasm: emote. But anyone that would prejudge someone's entire personality based on what baseball team they root for I didn't think needed an explanation for being a joke.

31. Sadly, there are many here
that do prejudge. I've seen several posts over the years that have basically said

Yankees Fan=Republican.

11. I would have to disagree about the Yankee fans.
At least at away games. When the Yanks play the Mariners in Seattle, yeah, they are loud, but not overly so.

Red Sox Nation, on the other hand.....:grr:

29. I've always thought that big money allowed the Yankess to win.
The Yankees have always had more money to get the best players. Where's the talent in that?

entitled "THE YANKS WIN!! THE YANKS WIN!! THE YANKS FUCKIN' WIN!"

It's been 5 years a comin' and I hope I get to.

Fun fact: Yankees haven't won during a Republican administration since 1958. Thankfully Obama won!

14. I eagerly await for you to eat that
I was around here when Skankees fans were posting pics of brooms after leading Boston 3-0 in the ALCS back in '04.

We all know how that turned out.

Your post is one of the many reasons people love to hate the Skankees. The Counting Chickens Syndrome is rampant with you all.

That being said, I am relieved Boston lost, if for nothing else, we will be spared the usual bloodbath around here when the fans of the two most obnoxious teams in the AL meet.

15. It amazes me how rooting for my team is so hated here, and so
un-Liberal. I have tried through the years here not to rain on any of your parades when YOUR team wins. But, as is the case around here, the bugs come out after the carrion is uncovered. And just because you hate me for being a Yankee fan makes me wonder what the fuck is wrong here and not with me.

18. Who's saying you can't root for your team
Edited on Sun Oct-11-09 11:13 PM by Bombero1956
It's just that some folks aren't content with being happy their team won without the incessant gloating and trash talk. Let's face it we're talking about sports here, hardly a matter of life and death. Are people's lives so empty that the only pleasure they get is from denigrating others because of the color of the other teams uniforms? Say what you will about Nascar but at least I can go to a race and sit with Gordon and Earnhardt fans and nobody gets into a fight and nobody talks shit about my driver. On edit I'm not accusing you of gloating.

24. Rush Limbaugh hates the Yankees too, which makes me happy I'm a Yankee Fan
Rush just hates New York too, he said he was leaving, but so far we are still stuck with this viscious bigot.

Whenever Rush makes one of his racist remarks, it reminds me of what Derek Jeter once said about being biracial: "When people can't figure out "what" I am, and dislike me for it, I just chalk it up to ignorance." That describes Rush to a "T"

I dont know why its "gloating" to be happy about your team winning, I've seen other posts where people get congrats when their team wins. The Yankees/Red Sox rivarly is a long standing one, and emotions run high but it's all in fun. Except for the time Red Sox fans threw garbage on the field during a game! I don't care, I still love it! It's intense! I look forward to it again next year. You can bet if the Yankees had lost tonite, Red Sox fans would have posted plenty of RIP's.

I think what a lot people don't understand is that its pride, winning 26 championships, something no other team in sports has accomplished. It's part of a tradition.

The Yankees don't always win, but win or lose I'll always love this team.

So good luck to all the teams, but I hope my Yankees win!

Suck it, New York. If it weren't for a fluke play and the Exit 16 W Ice Hockey Club, you'd have nothing.

30. I'm hoping the Yankees and the Dodgers play in the WS
and Joe Torre gets a measure of satisfaction.

You shouldn't be so sensitive about Yankee Haters.....I mean, there's even a classic Broadway Musical celebrating Demonic Intervention on behalf of Yankees Haters.........Wear your persecution with pride.....it could be worse, you could live in the DC area, and nobody would give two shits about any of your local teams.....with the possible exception of the Caps....
