8. yeah, once upon a time it was for real enthusiasts and car guys
then the speculators, flippers, quick-buck artists and nouveau-riche clowns who just wanted to be seen on TV throwing thier money around took over and the prices skyrocketed (while the classiness of the event plummeted)

3. Spray detailer and a microfiber cloth.
I am thinking about going to Barrett-Jackson in Arizona in January, or maybe next year in Vegas. They're just big car shows at heart.

6. Pledge and cloth diapers
The real trick is how you clean the paint before you apply the wax. On show car paint these days, they wet sand the clear with 1500 grit paper and soapy water, then buff that out, then start with the the wax and detailer. when that goes over a metallic base and transparent (candy) paint, it looks deep as the ocean.

4. I just watched "Ultimate Factories: Rolls Royce"
and there is no car, anywhere, more shiny than the Phantom. The paint/finish process is, on its own, incredible.

5. that wasn't just any Ford Galaxie
It was done up as Sheriff Andy Taylor's Mayberry Police Car and signed on the dash by none other than Deputy Barney "I only have one bullet for my gun" Fife.
