Poll question: Your Commute!
So, I am convinced from my recent not-so-random Q post that I have the longest commute in the Lounge. On November 2nd, that will all change and I will be working 3.7 miles from my house. (This has been my recent secret, as I didn't want to announce it until certain people were informed at my current job.)

So right now I take a bus, a train, and another train 1 1/2 to 3 hours door to door each way depending on time of day and state of the LIRR.

How about you?

5. 54 minutes is my record on a bicycle
When the traffic is heavy, it takes me about 45 minutes by car.

4. when I get up early to go to the gym, I can make it
in about 40 to 45 minutes.

If I wait until 7:00.... 1.5 hours

The Mass Pike can be a nightmare, but I like it a lot better than Rte 2.

6. Getting in to work takes considerable less time...
about 45 minutes to get there, and about 1:15 to get back home. It's 35 miles in each direction. Half of that on the Interstate, half on secondaries.

Many days, I wish that I lived closer to where I work. Or maybe I wish I worked closer to where I live. Either one would be great.

7. I used to commute into NY from CT.
I worked in Lower Manhattan, so it took me 1.5 hours door-to-door from Norwalk, and 2 hours from Bridgeport.

Shuttle to the Train station in Norwalk, Metro-North to Grand Central, then the express train on the Lex line. to the Fulton St. stop, and then a ten minute walk through WTC to World Fi.

(Pre-9/11)

9. I work from home as a writer, but
when I do the housewife thing it's about a 25 minute drive to the nearest Strip Mall Hell where I run all my errands (supermarket, bank, Target, etc.) The only transportation option is my car; too far for a bike, no buses, and the only train for miles is a diesel freight that transports corn to the corn syrup factory and the syrup they make back out again to supply the populace with the ubiquitous HFCS.

11. My answer is technically "other", but that wasn't a choice
If I commute to the office, it's roughly a 45 minute drive, when I work from home it's a ten second walk across the hall.

12. Hour and a half to work, 20 minutes home.
Public transportation to work, and I get a ride home from one of the four co-wokers who live near me.

14. 20 minutes, but "the center cannot hold"
it's from an extended-stay hotel. The office is in the midst of more corporate office parks than you would dream possible. Anything resembling an actual apartment is at least two or three miles away.
