How Can People Say That Baseball Is Boring?
Anyone watching that game tonight has to admit that there is no better drama than a winner take all baseball game.

2. Amen!
Not a pristine game what with some of the mistakes that won't show up in the box score but exciting and tense to the end!

3. Because it is to some people
Flame me. I don't care. I've been to two MLB games and they didn't hit the ball once. True story. Supposedly, it's every baseball lover's dream to go to no-hitters. It was boring to me.

5. Watching a clock tick down while one team holds the ball/puck....now that's boring
In baseball, it doesn't matter if the score is 30-3....the team still has to earn that last out in order to celebrate.

And that, my friends, is sports perfection.

7. Precisely
"You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all."

6. To me it's boring.....
but not nearly as boring as golf or tennis, followed up by Nascar.

I don't know why but I never found sports in general all that interesting like a lot of people do.

8. Because some people are dolts.
"Nothing ever happens in baseball!"

Yeah, like the nonstop action of the NFL :eyes:

For the record, I like both. Go Red Sox, Rockies and Broncos!

10. once at a Dodger game
I was so bored I was falling asleep. Took a look at one of the outfielders and he was yawning. He was playing and was bored. That's when I went home.

12. To me, nothing is as boring as football.
It's a game that takes forever. Gains are made in yards, which I find excrutiatingly slow. I like every other sport. Go figure.

Those are going to be some mighty tired boys that take on the Yanks Wednesday. But I love my Twins!

15.  I was at the Elks Club in Harford tonight
and they had the game on, but I couldn't see it because I was sitting behind a beam. They got all excited about something. I thought that the World Series used to happen in September. What is up with the extended seasons here? To me, a non sporty person, it seems like they extend the seasons of baseball, basketball, and football to the point of overlap. It takes away from the mystique, I think, if they extend the seasons beyond the traditional ones. If this winds up being a year-round for all sports (which is what it is looking like to me), then there is no novelty there.

18. Like almost all sports it has it's great games and it's boring ones.
Games this good are actually pretty rare (as are the truly great games in other sports). If all the games were like this I suspect the number of people who find it boring would drop quickly. :)

Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 07:36 AM by MissMillie
but I enjoy it a lot.

I love to see an outfielder make a great sliding catch.

And a good double-play is always fun.

And I love to watch Tim Wakefield's knuckle-ball throw even the heaviest hitters off balance.

And I'm always amazed at the statistics the commentators come up with:

"This is the first time a guy this young has hit 2 doubles on the 5th Wednesday night game of the season." LOL

23. Quite the nail-biter. Normally, I listen to games, and don't pay
that much attention to them. I watched last night's game, and found myself concentrating on every pitch near the end and especially during the extra innings.

Sadly, I suspect that the Twin's fun is about over.

26. My problem with MLB
isn't that baseball is boring. It's that the season has become ridiculously long with training beginning in February and now the postseason extending well into November. College football is well into conference play. NFL is in full swing. NHL is starting. Boys of summer indeed.

Back when they expanded the playoffs they should have shortened the regular season a corresponding amount but greed got in the way. But this is penny-wise, pound-foolish on behalf of the owners. Fewer games would mean more important games and the early playoff rounds wouldn't have to share time and attention with the meat of the college and NFL schedules.

My $0.02 anyway.
