They are trying real hard to be Malcolm in the Middle including the youngest kid looking and acting like the youngest kid on Malcolm.

But Patricia Heaton just can't pull of nasty quirky. She can pull off bitchy and nasty like she did in Raymond but she just can't pull of quirky and bitchy and nasty. Just doesn't have the talent for that...
