When I was a kid I liked Wesley Crusher
Now when I watch old TNG episodes I fast forward through all the parts he's in. I just want to punch him now.

3. Surprisingly, that's a sign of maturity
but it's not his fault. the writers were trying to hook a younger demographic who hardly watched the original Star Trek (like me), so they needed a whiz kid who would solve whatever problem they were having.

imagine what Picard thought of it.

4. When I was a kid, I hated Wesley Crusher
That dorky kid getting to fly the Enterprise while this dorky kid had to sit and watch struck me as a baffling cosmic injustice.

Wil Wheaton is pretty cool, though. He's become a fine writer; his new book, Memories of the Future, contains hilarious recaps of TNG episodes along with candid reminiscences of whether he thought he did well or not within the context of a given episode.

(I don't know why I said it like that. I'm feeling a little weird.)

16. Heidi's no Trekkie.
But yes, the only episodes of ST:TNG I actually watched are the ones with the mighty Wesley Crusher in it; I really don't care for anything else. Seriesly! I mean, without him, the whole Star Trek Universe would have imploded, but he saved it, he saved you and me. And after he left the series, I was sooooo glad to see that they brought Alexander, Worf's son into it, filling the huge gap of ... annoyance high ten forward.

Too bad he wasn't a real hero and died saving others. After five seconds. Shut up, Wesley! ;)

I'm really glad Wil Wheaton turned out to be a great and fun guy after this. :P :hi:

17. I didn't have any strong feelings about the character, but
..I remember years ago, a website called something like "The Seven Deaths of Wesley Crusher" or something like that. I can only remember that one was:

Picard tells Worf to "mess the little creep up a bit". Made me laugh.

23. I would have been far more into Ro if she hadn't taken off her jacket in the
first episode she was in and revealed those horrifically ugly star trek pants - I just couldn't look at her the same after that...

(Michelle Forbes is very cute, however.)

Just how they made those one piece jumpsuits that can somehow create a jacket to take off. Must be some futuristic star trek fiber.

25. The future will be a truly magical place, won't it?
Personally, I'm looking forward to having tough, light little tablet computers to carry around, but then using a different tablet for every single file that I need to refer to. It'll be way more convenient than cramming all that data into just one computer...

26. I like the communicators of the future
Edited on Fri Sep-25-09 01:19 AM by rcrush
Sometimes you dont even need to tap your communicator you just yell into the air "MR WORF COME TO MY READY ROOM" and Worf just hears you! In the future you are GOD!

Also the future will be a place where the military cant decide on a uniform design for their officers to wear. At one point they will think pajamas are appropriate uniforms for deep space assignments.

29. He was problematic for a basic reason of plot, too.
The Enterprise-D was the first Federation ship to have a Klingon crew-member, and in the bridge crew no less! Ditto the first android, and the first visor-enhanced blind person. I mean, how many ground-breaking "firsts" can you pack onto one bridge before it looks a bit conspicuous?

And then they throw Wesley--a magical warp-prodigy--into the mix, too? It gets to be a bit much...
