Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

I hope you didn't miss me too much the last few days.

I had a very nice time with my family. I showed them around Frankfurt a bit and we took a tour in the Taunus, the mountains nearby. In the evenings my condo changed into a gambling hell: Rommé, Rummikub, Scrabble ....

Now it is back to normal life.

Tonight I finally want to go to the Aqua-Fitness. So far there is no reason not to go.

3. Good morning Miss Honeychurch.
:hi: :loveya:

Very nice picture there; that looks like an oleander...those grow everywhere down here and that one is my favorite color for oleanders. Where does that lane go? I can see myself walking down and turning right for some reason.

Glad you had fun with your family. Miss you? Why? Were you gone?:P ;)

Though I can go swimming here if I wanted to, I suppose. Have to go into town for a pool, but the ocean is right here.

14. Miss Honeychurch!!!
Seeing your Good Morning Lounge Post just now made me smile...thank you for that. I have indeed noticed your absence in the lounge this past week. Truth be told, I feared you had left us! Fellow DUers do that sometimes...just sort of wander off to parts unknown. I was sad because I thought you had joined them. You DO know that you would be missed by many of us around here don't you? I thought you should know that... just in case you should ever decide to...you know... wander off.

Here is a  for you because you didn't wander off. As I post this, it is 3AM here...3 hours past when I should be home in bed. (I'm at my step daughter's place, my place is nearby)... This means that I get to...you know...wander off home. Good Night to you from Tacoma Washington Miss H. Nice photo by the way, very atmospheric.

26. Had a fabulous
weekend. Went rowing early in the morning when there was still mist on the river. So quiet so peaceful.

My book club met on Sunday (non-book club meeting - LOL). One of the members invited us to her new place and another member is leaving for a few months, so we incorporated a house warming along with a farewell. We all brought something to eat as usual and I made some caprese from heirloom tomatoes that I bought at the farmer's market.

Oh I know, that work stuff sure can get in the way of DU and other fun stull.

I cooked different dishes over the weekend and also made a Key Lime Pie. One dish I cooked was an "African peanut pot" made with sliced pork simmering in a sauce of canned tomatoes and peanut butter. Served with rice. Very yummy. Very rich and unhealthy ... LOL

Class was fine. It is a really huge stretch for me...we're talking a lot about Christian saints, and I'm having a hard time understanding how and why people believe in them - Judaism is just so different in structure. That was part of the point in taking the class, but it is difficult.

39. 'Morning MissHoneychurch!
:hi:

Sounds like you have a great time. And how do you gamble at Scrabble? :P

We're starting to get some more rain here. It was just in a hard downpour a few minutes ago. So, I looked up the radar for our area and this isn't the end of it: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?ID=HGX®ion=d3&lat=29.71940041&lon=-95.22284698&label=Houston%2c%20TX

Also, Central Texas is getting drenched, and they need it badly! They've been in a major drought for over two years. Most of my family lives in and around Austin :)

I love the photo, too. The landscape in the background reminds me of many a landscape painting I've seen over the years. There's just this uniqueness about European landscapes. However, I noticed similar landscapes in New Zealand. It must have something to do with how they clear the land for farming and ranching...

It was a roundtrip of just me. I'm hoping to bring my girlfriend over here and part of the Immigration regs is that we have to meet in person first. So, I took my only vacation in I don't know how many years and spent a week there. The traveling experience was the worst I've ever known, but being there was great :D

Here's my girlfriend (Maryanne) and me at the little bed'n'breakfast we stayed at on Waiheke Island:

41. Good afternoon, MissHoneychurch
First of all, what is the Aqua-Fitness? A public pool?

And who visited you? I must have missed your last thread...

I hear that something called "Oktoberfest" is kind of a big deal around your way...Any plans?

I needed your help while I was on vacation -- I had this long flight sitting behind this young German couple and I was curious to hear a translation of what they were saying (or maybe not; they were ALL over each other for the entire flight -- they practically shared one seat the whole time!)

Das Wort des Tages -- German Word of the Day

der Anziehungspunkt (-e) attraction, magnet, draw (for visitors)

Der Potsdamer Platz in Berlin ist zum Anziehungspunkt für Berliner und Besucher aus aller Welt geworden.

Berlin's Potsdamer Platz (Potsdam Square) has become an attraction for Berliners and visitors from all over the world.

RELATED: anziehen to attract, draw, pull, die Anziehungskraft (force of) attraction, appeal

(a better term in the American vernacular would be "tourist trap", imo)

and a local photo:

:hi:  :loveya:

Thank you. It was a nice little village I was standing in. And when I saw the scenery I just had to take the picture.

How are you doing? Did you have a quiet weekend again?

You play Scrabble for money? That's a very nice picture was this from your tour of the nearby mountains? I have been extremely busy of late myself, which is why my posting is down.

No, we weren't playing for money. Just for fun.

The picture was also taken in Italy, like a bunch I posted lately. :) I took some pictures over the weekend, I just haven't uploaded them yet.
