Hi, any recommendations for a mid-sized SUV??
I have an old Mazda 626 - four door sedan. I am interested in an SUV that is a little bigger inside than my car. I assume a compact SUV would have the same carrying capacity as my car.
I don't want a huge SUV either.

1. Why not a small wagon or one of the larger hatchbacks? The...
Chevy HHR would be one of the first things I'd look at, and the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Scion X/1B, Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe, Nissan Versa and Cube... All of them are fairly priced, have a lot of room, get good gas mileage, and should last forever.

3. I just got a Saturn Vue, which is technically a small SUV or "crossover,"

but it has an amazing amount of room inside, more than the inside of a 4-door sedan. When you put the seats down it seems absolutely cavernous. It also gets pretty decent gas mileage and the ride is comfortable. I am very happy with it.

5. Have you thought about the Honda Element?
Basically a big box on wheels. Lots of room, and can be hosed out, which is nice if you have animals.

6. We just bought an old Hyundai Santa Fe, and we love it. Geat size,
very comfortable and drives exceptionally well. Our dog falls asleep in the back seat almost instantly.

8. I love my Nissan Xterra!
it's a 2001. Not even 100k on it. Just recently replaced my brakes. I need to do my muffler now, and my alternator went about a month ago. These are the only problems I've had with it over the years. Regular maintenance, and that's it.
