Canada won't let you in with a DUI
or other terpidtudes like an arrest for anti-war activity.

:wtf:
I really love Victoria. I was going to buy some Real Estate there and create a restaurant syndicate. to open a chain concept.

Now, I don't know. If none of my buddies from DU can come to visit , what's the point?

1. It's a real problem for many Alaskans

who want to get to Juneau by way of road/ferry. You have to drive through the Yukon Territories to get to Haines where you catch the ferry. It used to be that you could just drive up to the border, maybe they'd check your vehicle out a little bit, and then you could go on through. These days you have to have a passport and NO blemish on your criminal record. There's a lot of drinking up here and lots of DUIs. If you live in Anchorage and want to go to the capitol, and you've ever been busted, you need to fork up $520 for airfare alone.

2. I love Victoria too
Although she does keep a lot of secrets.

(In all seriousness, that is my favorite city in B.C. and a good choice for what you are attempting to do)

4. A DUI is a felony in Canada
They don't let people who would be considered felons into Canada. Don't know about the anti-war activity.

7. what about all those people who recently gained citizenship?
Canada's law was changed in April of this year to extend automatic citizenship to anyone born of a Canadian parent outside the border. Many thousands of people automatically became citizens (I'm one). These people just have to write for a certificate of citizenship. Not an application, mind you. They are already legal citizens as of April.

I've wondered what the heck they would do with one of those who wanted to go to Canada and had a DUI or something. If they obtained the certificate of citizenship and wanted to cross into Canada, what would happen then?

I realize you don't have the answer to this. Just positing the question.
