Has Anyone Here Ever Had Dermabrassion Done?
Edited on Sun Sep-20-09 07:25 PM by romantico
Been thinking about this for awhile and think I am going to take the plunge. Was curious if anyone here has ever had dermabrassion done. I've heard there are pros and cons and would love to hear about anyone's experience and advice.

1. Years ago, I knew some folks that had that done.
I was under the impression that these days they were using lasers to burn off layers of derm -better results, more controllable for the docs.

2. Yes. Several decades ago...
...I was bicycling down a small mountain, Palos Verdes in LA County. It was night.

I was, as I have been wont to do while bicycling, going way too fast, and my light didn't throw enough light - it was one of those stupid generator lights - to show that the bike path didn't restart after crossing a road. Instead there was a curb there.

The bike frame shattered and I came down on my face, resulting in dermabrasion.

I wasn't really able to look all that well at the results, since my eye swelled shut.

However I am much the same as I was before: extremely ugly, but for a while, in a different way than before.

4. There
There are so many kinds. I will have to talk it over in more detail during my consultation. I think they do a laser resurfacing and various peels as well as dermabrassion. I will have to see which is best for me.

5. Seriously, my boy's had a lot of laser surgery.
It's pretty painful.

You should know that.

6. Really?
I have heard laser hair removal can be painful but I thought dermabrassion was rather painless. I am writing down questions to ask so the pain factor will be one I make sure I ask. Thanks for the heads up!
