9. I had a roommate who swore by Bread
Got laid practically every time he used them as mood music. There are actually some pretty decent songs in the oeuvre: "Mother Freedom," "Games of Magic," and "This Isn't What the Govern Meant." You will listen in vain, however, for your local Oldies station to play any of those.

i detested that band back in the day. sorry - you asked  they fell in the same category as america, chicago, and the other "soft rock" groups.

13. They were a necessary evil of that era...
...not that they were evil, of course.

I always thought of Gates as a talented songwriter...for what he did, he was at the top of his craft.

I was into harder stuff, though...garage rock, Motown-Philly, British Invasion, and so forth.

I've also always felt that the majority of Bread's detractors are responding to the legions of lame, copycat bands that attempted to emulate their success. I mean, anyone who can't connect the dots between Bread and Air Supply just hasn't been paying attention.

15. I have the single for "If"
I loved that song. It was one of the first songs I ever learned on guitar when I started learning how to finger pick. I loved the song on the other side of the single too, "Take Comfort." I wish I could find tab for that song and a new copy of the song. My little 45 is worn out.

16. I always associate their music to dimming the lights, breaking out the wine, lighting candles
cuddling up next to someone and see what happens music

17. Always thought the B-Sides of the singles were better
than whatever sappy assed Gates ballad was on the A-side.

19. I loved them. I was in Jr. High when they were popular and
my boyfriend and I were majorly in love. We ended up getting married in high school as we were sweethearts all through school. Unfortunately, I fell out of love with him in our early 20's and got divorced- but oh the memories......I think my favorite song of theirs was "I want to make it with you".
