I started to get nervous when my husband was in because they said it would only take an hour or so and it took considerably longer than that. What they don't tell you is that's the time it takes for the actual procedure but there's preparation and waiting on rooms and resources etc that factor into the time.
I had a nurse come out once he was in surgery to let m eknow. I wanted to kill her because I thought he had been in for two hours already (and was sweating bullets) only to find out he wasn't even in the room yet! Ack.
If they don't, we had a patient relations desk that was there just to help me get information when no one was offereing any.
10. I wish we had known that it was going to start so late. I think hubby and his bro will probably have
to come home before it is over. I am sure they had wanted to be there for him when he woke up. (Although I hear he will be pretty out of it for quite some time.)
15. They may not let the sons in anyway when he wakes up
(if there is a wife around, that is).
Only I was allowed in to visit when Mr. Lukasahero was out of surgery and even then it was for a very limited amt of time. Mr. Lukasahero didn't remember me being there at all and was mostly still unconscious when they threw me out at the end of visiting hours.
Trust me, the sons will be better off seeing him tomorrow - the first day scares the crap out of you.
