Is there any freeware that I could use to record instruments that I play?
And voice as well.....

1. On a Mac, a suite called iLife is already installed. Part of that is Garage Band.
Garage Band, I believe, will do those things.

5. Tracktion v1 is available for a free download
it is a full-featured sequencer, can do audio capture, and a whole lot more

it is incredibly easy to use after you spend about an hour familiarizing yourself with it

just google it

6. Thanks. I want to record overdubbed tracks of myself playing
bass, several guitars and a harmonica and singing. I need to do it on a PC.

7. yeah, you can do that in Tracktion
it's a complete music sequencer

it does VST plugins, etc too

the interface is great IMO...

8. I use Audacity and like it a lot.
I make multi-track recordings with 4 or 5 instruments, and I sometimes add vocals.
