You know what's depressing about posting in the GD forum?
If you post a long and fairly well thought up post exploring the OP's issue, in an attempt to have an intelligent discussion about something, your post quite often gets skipped over.

If you just say to hell with it and type "yur opinion sux", you get fifty responses in two minutes.

Call me crazy... but I think a lot of the time people are just looking to pick fights over there.

It's depressing.

I dunno... maybe it's just me.

That's my little mini rant.

1. I'm an erratic poster, My range is from flakey posts to time & effort intensive
And, by far, my flakey posts have gotten more responses, usually of the flaming variety, while the things that took 45 minutes of my life sink like a stone.

But actually, the flaming has been worse in, of all places, LBN (over Hugo CHAVEZ), and here (my flakey posts seem to set people off).

Anyway, it's ain't just you.

2. I haven't been doing this for very long
but it looks like you've got about two hundred words before the post gets too long to read. A standard editorial length post of about eight hundred words is waaay too long for an internet message board unless you're Shakespeare.

This place seems more like a cocktail party than a salon to me. You get the know it all boor, the obnoxious drunk, the immature attention whore and in the mix a few interesting people who know interesting stuff and are able to express it. And they aren't always the same people. Some who I thought weren't all that snappy have said some pretty insightful things, others who impressed me turned out to be jerks.

People are still people no matter where you go.

3. Lol!
You just noticed that?!

No, you are right...there are some (and often the same ones) that you'll find in any pile-on.

4. Haw! No, I certainly noticed it a while ago...
...it just took me this long to work up the energy to type up a topic about it.

Of course, this could all be shear ego on my part. Thinking my posts are so good they couldn't POSSIBLY be ignored.

:D

6. Yeah, it is just you, and your opinion sux!
Sometimes I can't help myself and have to go there...it's loud and noisy and too many subtle points get lost.

9. There are some people on hair triggers over there
But I don't blame all of them. There are a lot of things right now to make people angry in our society. Going to GD to pick fights might be a form of therapy for some. And then coming over to the Lounge offers a therapeutic benefit of its own.
