New cell phones - which ones are worth the money?
I have a three year old Motorola that has worked very well for me. I am sticking with Verizon unless I find something amazingly better. The only reason I'm thinking about getting a new phone is because I get $50 dollar upgrade and most phones have a $50 rebate. I'm also thinking I would like one that stores music, cutting down on the devices I would need to carry.

Anybody have any ideas to suggest? Thanks in advance! :hi:

1. Bookmarked - I'm in the same boat.
I'm hoping to get some suggestions myself and am piggybacking off of your thread :)

2. Personal preference
It seems where I live the service pretty much depends on where in town you live. Anything else on a cell phone is bells and whistles.

3. I love my Blackberry Storm.
It does absolutely everything (music, movies, GPS, full keyboard for text/email)... I even use mine as a modem for my notebook.

Love my storm! I do TONS of stuff with mine, more than I thought I would when I got it. The camera on it takes MUCH better pictures than my digital camera, so I never take my digital camera with me anymore, either!

Hi,
I went from an overpriced stupid plan with a stupid flip phone to a BB Storm. I too am loving it. I think there is a new one out now though. Whatever you do, if you get one of these suckers, get the unlimited data plan or DO NOT GET ONE, hehe, just a suggestion. There is a reason they are called crackberries. I would suggest going to the various vendors and physically looking at them. Good luck in your search.

Peace

4. My wife loves her Blackberry.
My friends swear by their Iphones. I think both are nice but I've had the same basic phone for three years now, cracked front screen and all. It does what I need it to do, make calls.

6. I just ordered an Alias 2
because I could get one for free when I re-upped my 2-year contract. I wasn't home when FedEx tried to deliver it so I won't get it until tomorrow now but I picked it because it has both a regular number pad for phone calls and a keyboard for texting. Also, it's a flip phone, the phone I have a LG Chocolate right now and the screen on the front is so scratched up that I can barely see the time on it so I looked for a flip screen this time.

7. Amazon has some great deals on phones
A few months ago I found phones through amazon for pennies that were going in stores for 50-200, even with new user discounts. Of course, I think those deals would, in most cases, require you to switch service, so it's not quite answering your question, but I thought I'd throw it out there :)

8. I would say switch to ATT and get the iPhone.
I am a bit biased since I work for ATT and have an iPhone. They're the best thing ever, especially for music, the only down side is the monthly data plan. But it allows you to do some unreal things. I jailbroke mine, pretty badass. But if you're not in to touchscreens or smartphones since you seemed to imply a $100 limit i would go with a Samsung, they're the number one phone manufacturer in the world and are very reliable and have excellent battery life.

I've had both ATT and Verizon and there is very little difference in price coverage or quality. I know you didn't say anything about switching carriers but I guess it just the salesman in me.

15. It is and we are the only carrier that offers that. Anyone want free ringtones?
Very useful for people with inconsistent talking habits. I rarely talk and have about 3000 rollover minutes so if I ever need them I can talk forever. Also ATT allows bluetooth file transfer (iPhone doesnt though)which makes getting free ring tones awesome.

For the free ringtones games and graphics go to www.myxer.com enter your number and either create one or use an already made one. Sends to your phone as a text message and just download it through the link. Im at work now so in the mode.

12. I recently looked at them. None of the damn flip phones are any good right now.
They all look like they would shatter if you dropped them. I've got that slightly rubberized case on mine and it has hit the floor more times than I have while drunk since I got it. It still works, but the screen is getting a little hard to read (scratches and all). I don't do text messaging so it isn't that big a deal. Motorola easily makes the best phones out there, but their new stuff isn't as good as what they made a few years ago - design problem, not quality. I don't know what they're thinking, but hopefully they will get back to more rugged useful phones instead of the pansy-ass yuppy shit.

The new ones suck. They've got cheap plastic cases or weird buttons and generally don't feel right. The "smart phone" things are just huge and ugly. I want something that tucks nicely in a pocket and won't accidentally order pizza if I scratch my balls. A flip phone is the only option for me. I'll wait a while now. I decided a $30 battery was a better use of my money at this time.

14. Whatever you do...DO NOT TOUCH an iphone.....
It will be all you think about after that. Mesmerizing. The apps are so coola nd the way it works, well even better than a computer in some cases. When I was at the Gorge at a Phish show, i was watching the show, videoing the show, photoing the show, listening to another stream of the show at the break, and reading the set list in real time. all with a whoosh of my finger. Simply amazing.
