10. It was not my worst night mare

But it was akin to it. Of course, I'm not much for shopping, so that could have jaundiced my view of the whole experience.

It just went on forever, seemed like miles of not quite perfectly aligned particle board and the ugliest lamps in the universe. The one that looks like a bunch of over sized false nails arraigned together is stomach turning.

And then, when I thought we were done and leaving, when I could finally see the light of day, thats when we had to stop to wait in line for hot dogs. At least my wife agreed that Costco is a much better deal there.

I am sure I will go there again, but more for ideas than products. Some good ideas, but a lot of poor execution, from what I saw. a very odd combination for a store.

Edit for spelling.

3. I like Ikea...
But, gawd, putting together their furniture can be a major pain in the ass.

I've got a beautiful sideboard in my kitchen that took me two days to put together.

5. I remember being so enamored of it
Edited on Sun Aug-16-09 07:36 AM by hippywife
many years ago. Now, from a distance I can see it for what it is: a collection of well-coordinated particle board junk. Really. I used to spend lots of money there a couple of decades ago. Thankfully, I've moved on.

6. i discovered a little place that is run by some old time mennonite craftsmen
they do some real nice expensive stuff that takes forever for them to make and then they also do stuff comparable toikea pricewise but the craftsmanship is leagues above.

7. It probably isn't
particle board, either, is it? I don't mind simple inexpensive construction as long as it isn't cheaply and shoddily done with really crappy materials.

8. lol ill have to ask them if they use particle board to see their expression
i actually saw the tree that they turned into my dining room table when it was felled on my neighbours property, real nice work and definetely worth it.

9. I was unimpressed
Its hard. There are actually some relatively good spatial ideas represented. But as far as I can tell its all represented in the cheapest possible materials. There was almost nothing there that I would ever consider purchasing.

There was one desk chair that seemed relatively solid. Some LED lamps that caught my interest. And a couple sinks that I will consider, if I ever actually manage to have a home.
