8. Forgive me from reposting a tale from my own experience

Driving back from lunch with a friend/coworker several years ago, we stopped at a local store to pick up some kind of wicker basket for her porch. Our cashier was Indian and spoke with an accent (to my shame, I admit to the low-grade prejudice of really liking the sound of certain accents).

Back in the car, my coworker expressed her discussed. "God I hate Indians," she said. "Sometimes I think I hate them even more than blacks."

11. Since she was driving, I decided to go for a diplomatic response

I commented that I'd spent ten years in State College, PA, likely a more diverse area than where she lived, so I had benefited from a more positive exposure to a broader range of ethnicity.

It took me about ten seconds to come up with that, so I'm sure that she sensed my disgust.


She also attempted to justify her hatred by complaining that "they" take all the good jobs.

"I guess you're right," I said. "Those Value City cashier jobs are a sweet gig."

... /me utilizes his handy stress relief kit that's pinned up on the wall at work - a black circle with white writing on it that says "Bang Head Here".

Wouldn't have wanted to have met me then... alumni (but sadly not graduate) of NC A&T State University (historically black school)... and one-time distance coach for a call center in Mumbai (yep, India).

What did that co-worker eat for lunch? A bowlful of stupid, I guess.
