When I was 15, my dad woke my whole family up in the middle of the night. We all went out to the back patio with hot chocolate and blankets. It was a school night. But we all sat and watched the most unbelievable meteor shower. It was cold, and soon everyone went back to bed. Everyone but my dad and I. And we sat and watched the night sky. We watched the night sky.

He died a year later.

It is rare to catch me looking up at the sky in the middle of a cold night for no reason these days.
