Absolutely LOVED The Alienist -- his descriptions of the history of the time was fantastic, he really put you right back there, smells and all. I'll have to go look at the reviews now. thx.
you won't put it down. Whether you are a history buff or a historical fiction buff you won't be disappointed. His descriptions of the streets of New York city at the time are incredible and full of real history. I lived in ny from 1960 to 1991, so I could "slightly" imagine what he was describing. He is known to be a historian so he knows of what he writes. The newly discovered science of "fingerprinting" is just fascinating!
