Does anybody here enjoy John Grisham novels?
Yeah, his books are typical mass market paperback works, but I think they are highly entertaining. Perhaps it is because I enjoy legal thrillers being that is what I plan to do once I graduate.

Anyway my favorite of his is A Time To Kill, and I just started reading The Rainmaker.

Anyone else like this guy?

1. I tried to read 'The Firm'...
but I just couldn't get into it and put it down a third of the way in. Sorry, I prefer the crime fiction of Raymond Chandler and Dashielle Hammett over Mr. Grisham any day. But you like Grisham and that's okay too. :-)

3. The Firm wasn't my favorite, either.
It's the exception to my "his older stuff is good" rule.

2. I do.
His books have gone downhill over the years, but his older ones are very good. That being said, I did enjoy The King of Torts. It wasn't anywhere nearly as good as his older stuff, but better than he's been coming out with recently.

You'll like The Rainmaker.

And I'm not sure, but I think he's a Democrat. Certainly, his "bad guys" are usually racists or corporations. And The Chamber pushed me off the fence concerning the death penalty. That book made me think about it differently, and I've been solidly anti-death penalty ever since. (I was only somewhat anti-death penalty before that point.)

4. Yeah
Same thing happened to me when I read The Chamber. I became staunchly anti-death penalty and it made me think of everything in a different light.

6. "A Time To Kill" is my favorite too
It took 3 tries for me to get into The "Firm". I agree, his books are entertaining. I like John Patterson, too.

7. I've liked several
I thought the Pelican Brief was quite clever, considering, but my favorite of his novels is A Painted House. Good book!
