I wish I had control of a giant array of orbital lasers....
So I could uise them to cutt Florida off from the United States and set the entire state adrift in the Atlantic.

1. But what would the rest of us do...
without easy access to God's Waiting Room?

8. It reminds me of a more urbanized version of Alaska, demographically.
Lots of people who can't fit in "polite society".

4. You know, somehow Florida reminds me of a line from one of Bill Bryson's travel books....

He quotes a German tourist as saying, "Austria would be a beautiful country. If it wasn't for all the fucking Austrians."

I feel the same way about Florida. Present company excepted, of course.

6. I felt the same about northern California. Loved the country.
Not the people.

7. I have a great story about Crescent City for you.
A close friend of mine used to work there as a traveling nurse. she once decribed the locals of Crescent City as "skimmers", as in "just skimming the surface of the gene pool".

Anyway, one of the other staffers, who was a local, came into the hospital one morning very proud of her husband.

When asked about the situation, this local told of how her husband had a bad tooth. Unfortunately, while they had medical insurance, they had no dental.

So, hubby - also a local - ties a string to his bad tooth, and the other end of the string to a skeet-thrower.

Well, he didn't remove his tooth, but he DID break his jaw.

But that was good, since with a broken jaw, it was now a medical issue, which was covered by their insurance.

Only in NorCal.
