Another Star Wars debate:
Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 06:14 PM by Brigid
I have often wondered how Anakins's life would have turned out if Qui-Gon Jinn had lived. I think he and Anakin really connected during their brief time together in a way Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi never really did. However well-intentioned Kenobi was, he never would have chosen to take Anakin on as a padawan, and had no idea what to do with him. He never even liked or trusted him. Not the best basis for a master-apprentice relationship. I think Anakin might have stood a chance against the Dark Side if Qui-Gon Jinn had been around longer to guide him. What do you think?

2. Here's the real question
why couldn't a wealthy organization like the Jedi Knights, spend a few bucks and free Anakin's mom? Hell why did they even allow such blatant human rights violations to occur?

3. Another question is why did Obi-Wan risk making the same mistake with Luke?
Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 08:29 PM by leeroysphitz
Especially after admiting his first mistake to luke in IV. He should have taken him straight to Degoba to let Yoda do all the training from the get go.

4. Therein lies the significance of Jinn's early death
The Phantom Menace established him as a tender-hearted maverick, at odds with the cold-blooded, spiritually obtuse monks who dwell in their ivory tower. His death left a void in Anakin's life, which could not be filled by an inexperienced, orthodox graduate who believed him to be dangerous.

Unfortunately for all involved, Anakin found a substitute in the avuncular politician Palpatine, just as he found a mother substitute in Padme.

5. I think Obi-Wan & Anakin were closer than shown in the movies
it's implied in some of their conversations/dialogue in the actual movies, but they are shown as being pretty close in the Clone Wars series.... additionally, in Episode 4, Obi-Wan says that Anakin was a good friend.
