What's your favorite season?

I vote for fall, because:

- I never have liked the heat of summer.

- I love how the leaves change.

- I look forward to Christmas.

I was just thinking we haven't done this poll in ages!

I love fall! The long shadows, the turning leaves, the crisp weather and the smell of death - just kidding. The smell of the dried leaves. I'm a fall junkie!

2. Summer for me

I love things about all of the seasons but Maine summers are so short I try to enjoy every minute. :-)

I like Spring the best. May to be specific. It rains a lot here in the NW, but May is sunny without being unbearably hot.

5. I like spring because

I hate winter and it's so nice to feel the warm weather.
Fishing seaon starts- for me anyway. I ain't doing any ice fishing.
I like seeing everything getting green after a long, cold winter.

7. Summer for so many reasons

- the warm, er hot, bright sun. Winter light is so dull and diffuse.
- minimal clothing, perferably a wet bathing suit. I can barely tolerate the bulkiness of winter coats and sweaters. I feel weighed down.
- iced drinks. Iced tea: the drink of the Gods!
- longer daylight hours to while away. I need lots of sunlight.
- the greeness of everything and the smell of flowers and honeysuckle.

16. FALL-for different reasons In S. California

FALL is when it's still summer hot, but cooler at night. When the Pacific is at it's warmest, but all the tourists are gone & out of your way. When the surf kicks up a notch due to fall storms in the Gulf of Alaska. When the really smart trout are still lurking large and languid in shrinking streams, and more susceptible to your lures.

What you guys call "Indian Summer" is here in October. Its a glorious time of heat and tranquility. Also, I find it's the best time to travel; all the industries, from airlines to hotels, are still staffed up.

Football, the most magical and demonstrably human of games, which I played for 30 years, begins in earnest. The REAL America's game.

PLUS, my first daughter was born in October. It's a magical time of year. And we get Halloween! I hope the paranoids are gone and Halloween can go back to the spookfest it used to be....

I love the lush greenery, the sound of the crickets & frogs at night, watching the bats wheel around at dusk, the dragonflies, the cranes with their babies, thunder rumbling in the distance...
