Just heard the electric one again today, and remembered that I can never decide which I like better. Both so damn good.

3. No Duane Allman = No Layla.
Edited on Mon Jul-13-09 09:33 PM by EastTennesseeDem
Okay, I won't go quite that far. I know it was written by Clapton and was very personal to him, and I do really, really like the Unplugged version, but Duane could turn a guitar into a sentient being.

15. YESSSSSSSSSSS!
Duane took a good song and made it great!

Clapton liked the man and his music so much that Duane had a standing invitation to join EC and his band anywhere/anytime.

7. Absolutely electric.
That song, in that version, is one of my all time favorite songs. If I had only heard the acoustic version, I don't know if I would have even liked the song.

10. Unplugged
The last couple of minutes of the original sounds like Billy Joel slipped in there to finish the song up. Up until then, it's awesome.

11. I believe Pete Townshend referred to the "Unplugged" version as...
..."that F**KING BOSSA NOVA version."

But then again, he's never been shy about expressing his opinion.

Some songs were never meant to be unplugged.

14. no question about it
the musical bridge at the end of the duane allman/eric clapton version kicks ass!! i find the other version very sterile and does nothing for me.
