Make a list of your favorite music artists in alphabetical order
Edited on Mon Jul-06-09 07:36 PM by mvd
For help alphabetizing, see here:

http://alphabetizer.flap.tv/

Also, you can have flexibility as to size of list. Make it either 5, 10, 25, 35, 50, 75, or 100. But top 100 should be enough for any list.

The list doesn't have to be perfect (even in big lists there are hard choices,) make make sure you get a good approximation.

My top 100:

A Fine Frenzy
Abba
Abra Moore
Aimee Mann
Alan Jackson
Alanis Morissette
Alison Krauss
Anna Nalick
Aretha Franklin
Avril Lavigne

Hard choices, these could be put in on any day but I chose some variety: Wilco, Loretta Lynn, Sugarland, George Strait, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Butch Walker, Hole, Neko Case, The Gaslight Anthem, Amy Rigby, Sufjan Stevens, White Stripes, Thea Gilmore, Amy Winehouse, The Decemberists, The Shins, James McMurtry, The Weepies, etc.

1. On edit, I put Janis in
Amy Winehouse is great, but it's hard not to have Janis in. I probably could make other changes but won't, or else I'll keep going.

5. That's a good way of doing it
Impossible when I have a bigger list, though.

I'm not going to try to make the perfect list, but if I put Joan Jett and The Who in, I'd probably have to switch a couple newer artists to hard choices. A Fine Frenzy would definitely stay, though.

I'd say people can get a good idea of our tastes even if artists were left out.

Hopefully, this topic can be a DU poll of sorts. :hi:

20. Mark Lindsay took a BIG risk with the "Collage" album...
They shortened the name to "Raiders," Lindsay grew a beard, the songs got tougher, louder, longer (two about dalliances with groupies), and the critics LOVED it.

It did not sell.

The next album was "Indian Reservation," followed by "Country Wine," which REALLY didn't sell. Those last two albums featured the return of original Raider Mike "Smitty" Smith on drums, who passed away a couple of years ago.

I have the original vinyl album of "Collage," and Lindsay briefly acquired the rights and sold CDs of it on his Web Site until the supply ran out. I was lucky enough to purchase one...autographed at that.

:toast:

Actually I might go see Amy Rigby tonight - and Neko Case will be here at the end of the month at our local Riverplex.

I'm not sure I could make a faves list - it would have to be by category - rock, jazz, pop, punk, etc.
