I had opportunities to move to Japan and Norway (on work visas) and Australia (gentleman friend) in the 1980s. I didn't take them, for what seemed like very good reasons at the time. Now they seem like lousy reasons (i.e. I was chicken). The other thing I wish I'd done differently was to ignore my mother's advice at a specific time. By following her advice I hurt someone's feelings and caused a ripple effect that lasted for years.
