3. Maybe Vertigo, and the first half of North by Northwest
he gave away the twist WAY WAY too early in that one

4. Notorious
I love that one just a smidgen more than the rest. TCM had a Hitchcock marathon yesterday. Hubby's in Wisconsin until tomorrow so I got comfy on the couch and watched Marnie, Psycho, North by Northwest, Notorious, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Rear Window and Vertigo, back to back. Topped off with some Pepperoni and Feta Pizza. It was an all around good day.

I missed it. I have seen them all, but wish I had known and I might have recorded some movies again. Well, Hitchcock will be here for many more years to view, as he is timeless, eh?

"Dial M for Murder" was a favorite MOVIE of mine. Did they show that one?

Marnie, The Birds and Psycho were a few more. Hard to pick a favorite.

Don't forget his TWO TV series: "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" and "Hitchcock Presents".

5. Another vote for Vertigo.
Edited on Sun Jun-28-09 08:19 PM by Moondog
I have most of the Hitchcock films on DVD, and Vertigo really was Hitchcock at his peak. I'd give North By Northwest a close second, though.

Hi,
I love Rope, a lot in that one for me. My second favorite would be Strangers on a Train.

11. How could I ever choose?
I loved all his movies PLUS TV's "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and the "Alfred Hitchcock Hour".

I have seen all of them numerous times. I could pick parts of every one as a favorite.

When we first got satellite TV, I recorded all of Hitchcock's works and watched the movies again.

BUT, as a bonus - recorded "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and the "Alfred Hitchcock Hour" ---- don't miss seeing those classic TV series shows.

:hi:

15. "The Trouble with Harry" - not very well known because it was a 'lost' Hitchcock film
But funny and very subtle. John Forsyth, a very, very young Shirley McLaine in her first film, and Jerry Mathers before "Leave It to Beaver" with a terrific cast of character actors.

Reputedly it was one of Hitchcock's favorites.

33. IIRC, it was "lost" because
Hitchcock bought back the rights (one of a few films on which he did so) to provide as a legacy for his daughter--so then it wasn't released again until after he'd died.

I like that one too. It's a fun movie.

35. Yes, there were five or six - "The Man Who Knew Too Much" ws one, I think
While I like almost everything of Hitchcock, "Harry" is my favorite because it is so different with such a sly wit. And Jerry Mathers is terrific in it.

It could be Hitchcock's only musical, albeit a musical with only one song in it.

38. well, it's NOT 39 steps
I watched it today and all I can say is it is a movie about espionage where everyone tells the TRUTH. How crazy is that? "I'm wanted for murder, You've got to help me..." and the line WORKS several times.

:wtf:
