Jon and Kate's Plus 8's Crooked Houses Cost Thousands

By EMILY FRIEDMAN
June 23, 2009

As Jon and Kate Gosselin prepare to move into separate homes, their eight children spent most of last night's episode of "John and Kate Plus 8" playing in four new playhouses of their own, ironically dubbed Crooked Houses.
Playhouses Features on Jon and Kate Plus 8 Cost Thousands

On last night's episode of TLC's "Jon and Kate Plus 8," the family got playhouses from Crooked Houses, which cost thousands of dollars.

At a price tag of $7,000 apiece, the children's new houses were perhaps emblematic of the excesses the family has reaped as a result of itsTLC show, which chronicles the parents' trials raising a brood that includes sextuplets and twins.

The delivery of the playhouses, made by a Maine-based company called Kids Crooked Houses, was shown on Monday night's episode, during which the couple also announced that after 10 years of marriage and five seasons of the show, they are separating. They have filed paperwork to dissolve the marriage.

1. That company received a thousand fold spike in page hits...

and a big bump in orders. This is good for Maine, so I fully support it.

They are actually nice play houses. If you can afford it, why not? At least it's an outdoors activity item.

Considering the crap average people spend money on (like $40000+ cars) this is not the most insane thing in the world. Hell, most play sets like this will set you back several thousand if it is not made in china out of leaded mercury boards.

A smart move by the company, and I'm sure the kids will use them to hide from their insane parents.

3. For all the bitching I do about the Gosselins, I have to agree with what you posted
If those playhouses are made in the USA by Americans then good for them!

6. Unfortunately some of us are handy-impaired.
I can build a pc. I can code software. Is it electronic? I can do it. Hell, even plumbing makes sense to me.

But hammer a nail? Cut wood? Forget it. A disaster waiting to happen.

2. I'm just tired of TV shows glorifying these over-breeders
Why do you think people like Nayda Suleman are popping out 8 kids at a time even though she has no viable means of supporting them.

Because our country has given us the perception that uber-large families equals winning the Mega-Lottery. Instead Nayda will be bilking the state of California to help pay for the care she can't afford.

I don't know what we can do to stop this. Suleman was the result of her insisting that more eggs than normal be implanted in her ovaries but the Gosselins brood were the results of overstimulated ovaries that got hit with enough of his sperm (although her overstimulated ovaries were created by chemical enhancements by a doctor).

I know i make it a point to NOT watch anything on TLC but unfortunately our country is mesmerized by train-wrecks like the Gosselins. I just hope that Jon & Kate have put their money aside not only to pay for their kid's college education but the years of therapy all 8 of those kids are going to need.

You know I'm forever in agreement with you on this subject. Stop glorifying people who make poor reproductive decisions.

10. Maybe for other people. I doubt the Gosselins paid a dime for them.
But good for this local, independant company.

It was nice advertising for them.
